Give it a Shake

For Christmas this year, I got a lot of money, and I bought an iPod Touch with it. I downloaded a bunch of apps like Stitchminder, DoodleBuddy, Paper Toss, Great Books, and Chicktionary. Among the many apps I downloaded was Urbanspoon. You type in the city that you live in and it will show what looks like a bunch of slots. Shake the iPod and it will land on a restaurant that you can go to. Well, my mom and I were wondering where we should go eat tonight because my brother is out with friends, and my dad and sister are at a game. We used this app, but we didn't find any restaurants that sounded good. Instead, we are going to make a couple packs of ramen noodles and then we're going to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Sounds like an awesome night, right?

Feasting on Bob

For Christmas this year, my Uncle Mark bought a 15 pound prime rib. It was so big that we named it Bob. We always name them Bob. And we ate almost all of it. I don't know how we did it. Of course, there was a little bit of Bob that lasted for a couple of days after Christmas, but it disappeared pretty quickly. After I ate so much of it, I didn't want to see another piece of Bob for awhile. But right now, I would appreciate another one.

Cousins

These are my cousins. I miss them lots. I haven't seen them for over a year. This picture was taken on a California beach when we were really little. We spent a lot of vacations together over the years.

You can check out my cousin Ethan Oak on Facebook. He's pretty awesome: athletic, smart, and really nice. He's a lot like me. Hee Hee.

Anyway, he couldn't come visit for Christmas this year because he was too busy with school and activities. He's interviewing at Exeter and other schools back East.

I miss them. It's been a long time.

The Holidays

This is my adorable little cousin playing with his big boy train.

This is my sister and I at an old ghost town.

This is the cool, freaky graveyard at said ghost town.

This is the cool cave we visited.
Check out the stalactites!

What an awesome Christmas vacation.

Sooooo sad it's over.

Happy New Year!

Long time, no post. It's been awhile. Writing consistently on my blog is a New Year's resolution for me because I've been lazy. Well, actually, I've been busy. I've been celebrating the holidays and working on crocheting.

Check out this calendar I made at Home Depot yesterday. It was really fun with all the hammering and the assembling. The painting was fun, too.

Other New Year's resolutions? Take more pictures. Earn and save some cold, hard cash. Get all A's this trimester. Practice my instruments everyday. Run another 5K this year.

What about you? What are your resolutions?

Kafka and Basketball

Recently, my family and I went to a basketball game. We took the light rail for the first time and went Downtown to the arena. During that ride, I read the first chapter of Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. It was really good but very strange (in a good way). Check out my sister in the picture. She is really into mass transit.

While we were at the basketball game, Papa took us to this arcade. A lady gave me a token to play a game, and I tried to beat my brother at shooting hoops. I lost, but I made thirteen baskets, which is awesome. It was a fun night!

Cheery Pies

This past summer, my aunt and I went to Williams Sonoma and got these adorable little pie molds. My other aunt had given me a gift card for my birthday. Yes, I love my aunts! So yesterday, I made these cherry pies for the first time. They were delicious. I was a little scared that they wouldn't turn out very well, but they turned out wonderfully. Aren't they sooooo cute?

Holiday Greetings!

Thanksgiving came and went sooooo quickly. We stayed at home this year and had a great Thanksgiving dinner. We played football at the park, and now I'm sore. I think that's why I'm sore. We went to a hockey game and a basketball game this weekend too, which was totally awesome. The best part? The dinner.

It's time to decorate for Christmas. Today, my sister and I made pine cone door hanger thingies. They are cool and cute and very festive. We put them all over the house, and they smell like cinnamon.

Happy Holidays to all of you and thanks for reading my blog!

A Museum, a Musical, and a Pomegranate

This is my favorite painting from today's trip to the museum.
I liked the Grandma Moses one that I saw, too.

It was such a pleasant day outside in the gardens.

We saw this musical this afternoon. It was hilarious.

And now I'm eating my most favorite fruit in the whole world.

It was a good day.

Lunch With Mom

Today, I had lunch with my mom at a restaurant downtown. For an appetizer, we had a baked goat cheese spread that had caramelized onions, olives, tomatoes, and herbs in it which was DELICIOUS. We spread them on crostinis. Then we split two sandwiches with each other: a California club and an herb roasted chicken sandwich with artichoke hearts, more goat cheese, and capers. They were quite possibly the best sandwiches that I have ever had. Yes, they were that good.

Life on the Farm

A couple of weeks back, I bought this goose at Hallmark. I named him Gooseberry and crocheted him a beanie. But I'm thinking about renaming him "The Edge" after the guitarist in U2. Do you see the resemblance?

And I'm sorry I haven't been posting in a while, but I got the piggy flu. I've been sick for a week. I had a fever for seven days, and then I had a really bad cough. It was awful.

And the Winner is . . .

I know that I said that I would announce the winners on Saturday, but I was just sooooo preoccupied. I slept over at my new friend Courtney's house, and I had a lot of fun. Then I was really busy with school work, so I didn't post. But, (drum roll please) the winner of last week's contest was Max's Mommy! To get the prize, email me your address at gooseberryfarm@gmail.com. Congratulations!
